What is the typical working day like?
As I’m working in a construction site. Every morning at 7.50 am, we would be having a morning briefing with our team to discuss about all the issues came up onsite. At 8.30am, I would then enter the actual site area to look at the progress and supervise the activities onsite. Besides, I would initiate conversation with the work leader from all SubContractors to gain info information regarding the challenges they’re facing which might halt progress. At 10.00 am, I would return to site office to do paperwork. At 12.00 pm, lunch. Usually, at 3-4.00 pm, I would have meetings with subcontractors and project director to discuss about our targeted goals and dates.
What tasks were assigned to you during your internship?
1. Responsible for supervising steel structure installation onsite 2. Writing reports including Minute of Meeting, Daily Site Report, Steel Fabrication and Delivery report. 3. Conducting meetings with Subcontractors and Project Director to give updates on site progress and set out targeted dates for our subsequent work trades on ensuing days
What was the most challenging part of your internship? To catch up with all our impending work trades that was unfortunately delayed as a result of the lockdown (MCO)
How did the experience benefit your career in the future?
I truly gain and insight and able to grasp on the job scope of being an engineer working onsite.
